Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was released in 2020 and was a huge success among the gaming community. However, the first title in the series Marvel’s Spider-Man has achieved a remarkable milestone and is the best-selling game of all time in the US, as per the latest reports and it was released back in 2018. Matt Piscatella, Executive Director and Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana (NPD) shared on X, formerly Twitter, about the game’s astonishing success.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is The Best Selling Game of All Time
The game celebrated its 5th anniversary on September 8th and Matt Piscatella took to X to share that Marvel’s Spider-Man is still the best-selling superhero game of all time in the US, according to the data gathered by Circana Retail Tracking Service, making it highly verifiable. The developers celebrated this occasion on a livestream with Nadji Jeter, Yuri Lowenthal, and Laura Bailey and asked players about their best moments playing the game.
Being on top despite huge competition from several titles such as Call of Duty, God of War, and Xbox’s latest giant Starfield, Marvel’s Spider-Man has proved why it’s the best-selling game of all time and the abilities of the developers to give players an experience that they cherish for years to come.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is based on Spider-Man Comics and Spiderman goes head to head against Mister Negative, a superhuman crime kingpin who wants to rule New York City’s criminal underworld in the main storyline. He also has to deal with the challenges that arise with his real identity, Peter Parker. The game also has various side missions for players other than the main story where players can access additional content and collect exciting gadgets and items as rewards.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 to Take Franchise’s Popularity to New Heights
Marvel’s Spider-Man has sold millions of copies of the game and features amazing combat mechanics and gameplay. It’s been 3 years since the last game in the IP was released and it is still captivating the players. As the upcoming release of highly-anticipated Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 draws closer, the players are expecting the developers to drop at least equal gaming experience to the original game, if not more.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is available for PS 4, PS 5, and PC as well and a remastered version of the game was also released. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is set to release on October 20 for PlayStation 5 and will feature popular villains including Venom and Kraven the Hunter and expand the new Spider-Man universe.
