Fast and Furious is a franchise that is filled with some of the biggest actors and actresses. From Vin Diesel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Brie Larson, there is a range of actors many might never have even thought could work together. There are various Marvel actors who almost joined the series while many others who successfully did so.
The different actors who have come and gone from movie to movie are rather exquisite. Whether it is from the DC Universe or the MCU, the range never seems to end. That is to also focus that Diesel himself is a superhero star. However, there was one actor who almost got a rather major role in the franchise and it wasn’t Josh Brolin but another impactful villain.
Marvel’s David Tennant Almost Made It in the Fast and Furious Franchise
When Fast and Furious 6 was still in the making, Justin Lin, the director, was extremely eager to cast a rather famous actor. David Tennant had been on top of the director’s list for a major role in the movie although the role itself is still unconfirmed. The role in speculation was either of Deckard Shaw or Owen Shaw. Both these roles later went to Jason Statham and Luke Evans, who did incredibly well in the movie.
The actor never said yes and later on went on to do some of the most iconic roles including that of Jessica Jones and Good Omens. Before that, he was primarily known for his role as the 10th Doctor in Doctor Who and as Casanova. He was set to play a villain in the Fast and Furious franchise but that never came to be. However, he only took his career in a more upward direction. Whether he got rejected or turned down the role was also unclear.
Fast and Furious Wanted Generic European Actors
A big demand for the sixth installment of the franchise had been that of generic European actors. Luke Evans, Jason Statham, and even David Tennant were strong contenders for it. The entire franchise is one that never hesitates before shooting on some of the biggest locations, adding to a heavy budget as well. From auditioning actors to auditioning cars, a long and crucial process takes place to make sure no one and nothing wrong gets cast.
David Tennant could very well have been a concrete part of the franchise had he been cast as Deckard Shaw and instead of Statham, we would have been seeing him. To think about it now, it is rather peculiar since the Transporter actor has done an incredible job in the role. However, it could have been Tennant’s as well.
