Sam Levinson’s recent claim about making a movie for his seven-year-old son, is nothing but a nightmare. The American filmmaker, whose show, The Idol, has been tagged as a s*x-obsessed, shallow, and painfully predictable creation, got netizens worked up once the director declared his wish for a children’s movie.

As Sam Levinson’s show, The Idol, starring The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp goes wildly off the rails even before its scheduled release, the director claimed that he would be making a movie for his seven-year-old son. During an interview, the Assassination Nation director and writer claimed,
“I have a seven-year-old son at home. I want to make a movie for him. I want to make a ‘Goonies’.”
Since his statement, netizens have brutally trolled the director for his desire of making a children’s film, especially after The Idol’s controversial status. It was previously reported that the Weeknd scrapped most of the footage of the original director Amy Seimetz, who quit the series after 80% of shooting amid irreconcilable creative differences with the rapper. This is when Sam Levinson came in because the guy was on board with the Kiss Land artist!

Abel Tesfay’s controversial, “proactive, and troubled” HBO series, The Idol premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2023. The series, which had its fair share of troubles in the making, includes stars like Euphoria showrunners, Reza Fahim and Sam Levinson.
The upcoming series has been billed as a “darker, crazier and more risqué version” of Levinson’s hit series, Euphoria. An insider from HBO claimed that Levinson and Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye are the “sick and twisted minds” behind the “sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood”. One of the crew members described the series as a “s*xual torture p*rn”.
The Weeknd, who idolized himself a bit too much during the filming, declared his retirement from music, breaking many hearts. As for the series, early teasers depict clips of parties, drugs, and everything controversial, of course, in excess. From the face of it, it appears that the series is set to take the viewers into the shady “underbelly of Hollywood, fame, and corruption.”
