Actor Zachary Levi gained popularity among DC fans thanks to his performance as Shazam, in the seventh installment in the DCEU, Shazam! (2019). He then reprised his role for 2023’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Now, the actor has a strong desire to work with this DC star.

As per the storyline, it would make sense if Levi works with Dwayne Johnson, who played Black Adam, however, Levi wants his character to team up with Green Lantern, who almost appeared in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, but was removed at the last minute. Actor Wayne T. Carr was Snyderverse’s Green Lantern, however, that cameo never happened.

As of now, Zachary Levi’s future in the franchise is uncertain, primarily because DC’s co-CEO, James Gunn, and his team are planning to reboot the franchise by setting up a new universe. If Levi reprises his role, it would certainly be exciting to see him teaming up with Green Lantern.

Zack Snyder’s version of Justice League was finally released in 2021 and it was everything that his fans wished to see, however, something was still missing: Green Lantern’s cameo. It was later revealed that actor Wayne T. Carr appeared as Green Lantern in the movie, however, that cameo was removed.

As per sources, Warner Bros. requested this be removed because they had their own plans for a Green Lantern franchise. With Snyder out, fans will never get to see Wayne T. Carr playing the role ever again, but the anticipation for Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern is also quite high.

What Gunn has planned is called a “soft reboot,” which means the franchise will keep some actors and continue some storylines from the previous DCEU. Gunn has further confirmed that Xolo Maridueña’s Blue Beetle is the first official superhero in the DC Universe.

Sources have confirmed that DCU currently has five movies and five television series in development. There are also rumors about Gal Gadot’s return as Wonder Woman in the franchise but nothing has been confirmed as of now.

All eyes are on Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, which is all set to hit the theatres in July 2025.
