Shah Rukh Khan is one of the most famous actors in the world, ruling Indian cinema for more than three decades now, starring in almost all genres of films and making a name for himself throughout the world. He has starred in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Pathaan. While the majority of his audience lies in the country of India, he is very well known and respected internationally.
This fact has become all the more evident with the release of his most recent film, Jawan, which has entered the top five of box office charts, setting historical records for the actor.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan Entered The Top 5 Box Office Charts
Shah Rukh Khan‘s Jawan had quite a lot of competition, with Denzel Washington’s Equalizer 3 making $32.6 million, The Conjuring Universe’s The Nun 3 making $12.1 million, and the third part of My Big Fat Greek Wedding making $10 million, in their opening weeks with all being released around the same time. Surprisingly, however, Khan’s film managed to secure $7.5 million in its opening weekend, placing it in the fourth position at the box office.
This is very significant news not only for Bollywood but also for Khan himself as the film managed to reach these numbers after only being screened in 813 theaters around the world while the other three films are being shown in over 3000 theaters each.
What Is Jawan About?
Jawan is a deeply political film, focused on the corruption and greed that haunt a country while trying the fight the same. Shah Rukh Khan features in a double role, playing the characters Captain Vikram Rathore and his son Azad. These characters act as sort of vigilantes, trying to use illegal means to bring about positive change in their nation, while also trying to convince others to do the same.
Their characters are even compared to Robin Hood, who is famous for stealing for the good of the people. Although the movie travels around a lot of cliches, it sits well with the audience as the message that it is trying to pass is not one that can be taken lightly. The actor already being one of the biggest in India created a bigger buzz around the movie.
