After 2018’s Venom became a box office hit, Tom Hardy reprised his goofball role creating outlandish moments in the 2021 sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage. Thus, appearing for the promotion of his second installment on WIRED, alongside Andy Serkis, the 45-year-old actor spilled some tea about his resume.

Revealing about his pathological lying on his resume, Tom Hardy confessed to being an awful French speaker. Answering fans’ most searched questions about himself, Hardy admitted lying about his skills on his resume to get certain roles. Well, it’s certainly surprising for fans to know how the 45-year-old tricked filmmakers into landing acting gigs.

Tom Hardy Lied On Resume About Speaking French 

Reprising his role as Eddie Brock who serves as a host to an alien symbiote Venom, Tom Hardy came up with his second installment of the insane banter, Venom. Promoting his 2021 movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage, alongside Andy Serkis, the 45-year-old appeared on Wired

Addressing fans’ most asked questions about the two actors, Tom Hardy came across the question, “does Tom Hardy speak French?”. Without a pause, the Mad Max actor revealed, “Not really, I speak really bad French. I do understand it enough to know what you’re saying”

Surprised to see such a bizarre question out of nowhere on the question boards, Andy Serkis asked Hardy, “but why would that question be asked?”. To which Hardy replied, “Because I may have said that I speak French, like I said I ride horses and I can ski proficiently, and all kinds of things to get work.” The actor later confessed, “none of it is true.”

Tom Hardy Tricked Christopher Nolan For Inception 

While promoting Venom: Let There Be Carnage, as Tom Hardy confessed about lying on his resume to land certain roles, he mentioned the time when he lied about knowing how to ski. Recalling the incident, Hardy apparently lied to none other than the acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan about skiing.

In order to land his role in the 2010 epic, Inception, Tom Hardy lied to Nolan with a straight face. According to an interview with Access, the filmmaker discussed the chasing sequence on a snowy mountain, and mentioned, “I remember calling Tom Hardy and asking him, ‘Can you ski?’ and there was a slight pause,”.

Later, Hardy was asked if he lied about his skills, to which the actor confessed, “who wouldn’t? It’s Chris Nolan. If he asked me if I could rock-climb, I’d tell him I could rock-climb anything.” Although he didn’t reply directly about being dishonest, the 45-year-old mentioned receiving a crash course on skiing before the actual scene.
