Like her iconic Hollywood run, Marilyn Monroe’s love life too doesn’t fail in leaving her fans in complete fascination, and her marriage with Joe DiMaggio takes the spotlight. Despite being the shortest among her three marriages, her bond with baseball legend Joe DiMaggio remains the talk for ages.
Tying the knot back in 1954, only to part ways after 9 months, the short-lived love life of the two remained a rollercoaster ride. However, according to the baseball legend, it appears the two were perfect for each other, as DiMaggio allegedly claimed he was the perfect partner in bed for the Hollywood icon.
Joe DiMaggio allegedly claimed no one satisfied Marilyn Monroe as he did
With both of them headed into their second marriage, it was evident the two were extremely passionate towards each other, and their s-x life seemed to reflect that. According to the baseball legend’s buddy Rock Positano’s 2017 book, it appears DiMaggio allegedly said he was the perfect man for Marilyn Monroe, claiming no one satisfied The Seven Year Itch star like he did, referring to their eventful intimate life. The comment read,
“When we got together in the bedroom it was like the gods were fighting; there were thunder-clouds and lightning. Doc, Marilyn told me that no man ever satisfied her like I did.”
DiMaggio seems to have further claimed that even after they parted ways, Monroe allegedly used to think of him when she used to make love with her 3rd husband, Arthur Miller, claiming, “[She] told Frank Sinatra that she always thought of me when she made love with Miller”.
Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe rekindled their bond
Although rumors claimed Joe DiMaggio was bothered by Monroe’s rising fame, which eventually led to their divorce with Monroe stating “mental cruelty” as her reasoning, the two did rekindle their bond years later. Following her third divorce, the Hollywood icon made peace with the former athlete. Although remarriage rumors surfaced following their reformed friendship, the two remained friends until The Prince and the Showgirl actress tragically passed away at the age of 36 on 4 August 1962.
Left heartbroken by the actress’ untimely death, Joe DiMaggio funded the actress’ funeral at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery. And for the rest of his lifetime, the baseball legend never remarried and for 20 years, DiMaggio kept on delivering half-a-dozen roses three times a week to his ex-wife’s crypt, showcasing his love and admiration for the Golden Age icon.
