“No, I didn’t know it was happening”: Angelina Jolie Punished Her Estranged Father During Her Wedding With Brad Pitt in The Worst Way Possible

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s turbulent relationship has enticed major public interest and why not, their whole saga had several pointers that would leave one shocked. From kicking off their high-profile relationship to getting married only to indulge themselves in years-long legal battles, they have done it all.

However, Jolie’s life is not only dramatic because of her ex-husband but also due to her complicated relationship with her father, Jon Voight. Their sporadic bond went too far as the actress didn’t invite her father to her wedding with the latter.

Angelina Jolie used to share quite a complex bond with her father, Jon Voight who has herself addressed that she was not close with him. What would jeopardize their relationship depends on several factors, she once mentioned that getting to be recognized by his name was what she didn’t want since she felt much close to her mother, Marcheline Bertrand.

“I did not want to be Voight, as an actress, because people would react to the name. Dad always used to apologize, when I was young, for the fact that articles described me as ‘Jon Voight’s daughter. I didn’t feel that close to my father. I felt more of my mother’s daughter when I was a child. So that was one part of it.”

What’s more shocking is the fact that their relationship went quite terribly with the former not even inviting her father to her super secret wedding with ex-beau, Brad Pitt.

Addressing the wedding, he mentioned via Mirror,

“It seems like it was very nice – and with all of the kids involved, it must have been a lot of fun and very beautiful. I’m happy for them.”

He continued that he would have been unable to make a presence even if he was extended an invitation.

“I haven’t spoken [to them since they got married],” he said.  “No, I didn’t know it was happening – it was Emmys week, so I wasn’t able to go.”

Their relationship was quite in shambles but they got reconnected after her mother passed away at the age of 56 after a battle with ovarian cancer in 2007.

After her relationship with the Bullet Train actor ended, the father-daughter bond rekindled with the actress addressing it in a 2017 interview with Vanity Fair. She shared that her father won her heart by standing by her in her difficult time.

“He’s been very good at understanding they needed their grandfather at this time. I had to do a therapy meeting last night and he was just around.”

She continued,

“He knows kind of the rule—don’t make them play with you. Just be a cool grandpa who’s creative, and hang out and tell stories and read a book in the library.”

Meanwhile, her father has nothing but praise for his daughter. Even the actress has admitted that their relationship revamped all thanks to her kids who bridged the gap between the duo.
