The Flash Film News, which covers news and updates regarding the DC character on Twitter, shared a sequence that had more bits cut out from the film which was released back in June. The post has come a couple of days after The Flash zoomed into Max for streaming on August 25.
The sequence showed a depowered Barry Allen who went to rescue a trapped Kryptonian along with Michael Keaton’s Batman and an alternate Barry Allen into a Russian Mercenary base.
The Andy Muschietti directorial not only cut the scene short but reshot the ending multiple times to let Barry Allen run into George Clooney’s Bruce Wayne, and fans blame James Gunn for it!
Since James Gunn took over DC Studios as Co-CEO, one of the many changes he made was the ending of The Flash in order to suit his vision going forward. Just like The Snyder Cut, fans now believe that a Gunn cut exists as well, which has the original ending and extended scenes.
The Flash Before James Gunn Came In
Not one, but the Ezra Miller spectacle had two different endings before James Gunn took over, as per MovieWeb. The rumored original ending was developed prior to Warner Bros. and Discovery’s merger and it looked to move away from Zack Snyder’s vision.
Ending 1 looked to specifically get rid of Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman under the leadership of Toby Emmerich (former WB chairman) and Walter Hamada (former DC head). It had Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl alive and present in the courtroom with Miller during his father’s exoneration.
Ending 2 was developed after WB had merged with Discovery last year. It had Henry Cavill unite with Kryptonian cousin Sasha Calle. Director Andy Muschietti told Vanity Fair in June that a 4-hour cut exists and has a couple of cameos.
James Gunn’s Preferred The Flash Cut
Just like Warner Bros. had retooled Zack Snyder’s 2017 Justice League by giving it to Joss Whedon (The Avengers), fans believe, now that Muschietti has cleared it, there could be an unreleased Gunn cut, which contains all the deleted scenes and cameos.
Gunn supposedly had many shots, including the original ending, retooled to fit George Clooney’s Bruce Wayne, instead of Keaton and Calle. While explaining the plans for his new DCU during DC Fandome in January, Gunn said that The Flash resets everything.
“The Flash, a fantastic movie that I really love, that resets – the entire DC universe. Then move into Blue Beetle, a fantastic film about a kid who’s a marvelous part of the DCU… and then into Aquaman 2, which leads directly into our next project.”
