So we already know that the Nintendo Switch 2 is rumoured to have a launch date in late 2024. And if the latest rumours are to be believed, then it looks like the hand-held device will have little to no load times.
And whilst we should point out that there has been no official announcement from Nintendo as yet, there was said to be several developer presentations for the device at the recent Gamescom in Germany. But you probably didn’t see this as it was behind closed doors.

What’s the latest with the Switch 2?
According to Nintendo insider ‘Nate the Hate’ loading times for the rumoured upcoming console have been reduced to nearly zero. And according to him Breath of the Wild was running on the device at 60fps and 4K resolution. But he stressed that the main focus was on the reduction of loading times for games.
Further to this he said that the example he was using was that of booting the game up from the main menu. And he drew comparisons of loading a save file on the original Switch which would take around 30 seconds. Not compared to the new Switch according to him which is ‘almost instantaneous’.
He continued by saying that the Switch 2 will have more modern tech such as DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). And this would allow a lower powered device to simulate a 4K resolution in way which is nearly indistinguishable from native 4K, meaning there would be less cost to the initial performance.
With no surprise to anyone, when the latest rumours started circulating around the community, many jumped on Social Media to lambast the features that the console was said to be running with;
“Lol. You guys really believe it can do 4k60 natively. even current gen consoles won’t do native 4k60 properly in many games. It’s just 1080p upscaling” – @Sai_Vishal570
“I can get the DLSS, 60fps and minimal load times, but not the 4k resolution not even upscaled and if it was, the game 100% sure wasn’t running at 60fps, probably 45fps or little less. At best 1080p or a little more.” – @Wymnkun
As we said earlier, there’s nothing concrete from Nintendo as yet and well let’s face it, there’s not even been any acknowledgement about a new console. Rumours come and go with this company and half the time, they end up changing their mind in light of said rumours.
Several ‘behind closed doors’ presentations for the Switch 2 were said to happen at this years Gamescom
So it may be that we’ll have to sit tight and see what develops, however that being said reliable leaker ‘Nate the Hate’ did state previously that Mario 3D would be the launch title for the Switch 2. Could we see everyone’s favourite Italian plumber leading the line next year?
