With the latest State of Play put on by PlayStation fans, we’re shown a range of new games that are on the horizon.
Many of them are indie titles, some are huge titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and the new VR title Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord was given a release date and a new trailer.

Ghostbusters in VR
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord was designed with VR as the target format and expands on the already existing Ghostbusters universe with ties to previous movies in this exciting new story. This time around, it’s set in San Francisco, with all new equipment and a new cast of characters to bust some ghosts. Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and nDreams have teased what players can expect from the game:
Gear up with the latest Ghostbustin’ gadgets from remote turrets to ghost decoys. Take on a variety of missions, like collecting dark PKE or closing interdimensional portals. You’ll need to work together to solve puzzles, trap ghosts, and stop the March of the Malevolent.
While the game is designed with co-op in mind, it can be played solo if players wish to. You can play with up to three other players and take on the brand new villain and his minions as they invade San Francisco.
When Can Fans play Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord and What Can They Expect From the Title?
Announced through a trailer at State of Play on September 14th, it was revealed that Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will be released on October 26th, just in time for fans to play over the Halloween season.
On the PlayStation Blog, you can find details of the special features fans can expect from the new game on the PSVR2 system. These features include, but are not limited to, using eye tracking to navigate the menu screens, grabbing objects from a distance and seeing where other players are looking. There’s even a winking feature, so you can give your friends a cheeky look.
How Does Ghostbusters Utilize the PS VR2’s Power?
Thanks to the PS VR2’s impressive power, players a treated to some gorgeous graphics with some excellent lighting effects and even some “ethereal ghost effects” that are designed to give players a nostalgic feeling for the previous movies. These effects will occur when ghosts fly either towards you or through you, and thanks to the headset’s haptic feedback, you’ll even be able to feel them.
Available editions for Rise of the Ghost Lord include the standard base game, which starts at $35, and the Full Containment edition, which costs $55. This includes the base game, access to upcoming DLC, and other bonus content. Both editions are available to pre-order now on the PS Store, even at a 10% discount for both editions.
