Looks like the worldwide audience is still split over Marvel’s controversial decision to recast the character of Cassie Lang. Although we are so near to the release of the movie, the internet hasn’t forgiven MCU yet. While the upcoming flick was already suffering from a bad early reception, this backlash by the fans in favor of Emma Fuhrmann presents a more concerning fate for it.

Why didn’t Emma Fuhrmann return in Ant-Man 3?

Recast and Marvel is not a new combination as earlier also we have witnessed the popular cases of Edward Norton and Terrence Howard. Emma Fuhrmann joined the list when the studio revealed that the Avengers: Endgame version of Cassie Lang won’t return for the Ant-Man threequel. Marvel never revealed any official reason but it is obvious that they wanted a bigger name to helm the role.

It is repeatedly stated by the makers that Cassie Lang will have a very important part in the story of Ant-Man 3. We will get to watch Stature for the first time in the MCU and it is evident that the studio is heading towards preparing the new Avengers comprised of these youngsters. Kathryn Newton‘s track record of big performances played a major part as Marvel wanted to make the character of Cassie Lang more important.

But despite everything, the fans are widely disappointed at the decision. What fueled the controversy, even more, was the lack of any prior information about the recast to Fuhrmann. The actress took to her Twitter to announce that similar to the fans, she also got the news during the official announcement. As Ant-Man 3 is almost on the big screens, the fans have once again raised their voice against this unfair decision by the studio.

The absence of Emma Fuhrmann in Ant-Man 3 enrages fans

The role of Cassie Lang was helmed by Abby Ryder Fortson in the first two Ant-Man movies. But the time jump shown in Avengers: Endgame presented an elder version of the character played by Emma Fuhrmann. Even though she had very little screen time in that movie, the fans were not at all happy to hear the news of the recast.

Now the fans have taken over the Internet to voice their opinion on how unfair it was to recast Fuhrmann without any prior knowledge. But interestingly, the debate has even got hotter as the early reviews of the Paul Rudd movie revealed a disappointing performance by the Detective Pikachu actress. We have collected a few tweets.

Presently, Ant-Man 3 stands at a very disappointing 51% Rotten Tomatoes rating received from the early reactions. Even though RT ratings often differ from the audience’s reception, it has already created quite a buzz on the internet as the fans had huge expectations from the Phase 5 pilot project.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will hit theaters on February 17, 2023.
