Fighting games have had a history of awesome customization options, and with Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm Studios is continuing the trend and may even be expanding upon it. After all, where’s the fun in beating your friends in a fighting game if you aren’t flexing on them with some sick drip?
A new leaked trailer showcases some of the customization options that the game will have. The hype is reaching unprecedented levels as we get closer and closer to the release date. Every new trailer is better than the last, and this new one is sure to get fans of the series even more excited than they already are.

Mortal Kombat 1 New ‘Kustomization’ Mini Trailer
The new character redesigns may be great, but it’s time to leave the ‘kustomization’ up to the real experts: the players. The new trailer, leaked by thethiny over on Twitter/X, showcases small changes to fan-favorite characters Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Smoke, and Reptile.
What has caught the attention of many fans is that the trailer mainly showcases customization options that were present in the previous games, such as Mortal Kombat 11. Aesthetic changes like the ability to add tattoos will return in MK1.
The authenticity of this leak is yet to be determined. Previously, thethiny leaked the character roster, which included Nitara from the spin-off Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance game, which proved to be correct. The trailer shown also looks authentic, so take it with a grain of salt but still view it with excitement.

What Other Cosmetic Changes Can We Expect in Mortal Kombat 1?
It seems like you’ll be able to change and tweak various different customization options for each and every character. Trying on different outfits for characters, like the lavishly dressed Johnny Cage, will surely become something to sink multiple hours into. Jean-Claude Van Damme is actually making his appearance in the game as a Johnny Cage skin. On that note, we can definitely expect some awesome outfits for other characters, such as Nitara (voiced by the amazing Megan Fox).
The question remains surrounding the Kameo characters. To recap, Kameo characters are your partners who will significantly impact the course of a battle. These characters have been embraced with open arms, as they are all from previous entries, like Johnny Cage’s daughter, Cassie Cage. There’s a very good chance that we’ll be able to customize the Kameo characters. Since they are mostly characters from the past, it shouldn’t be too difficult to port over some of the previously used costumes. Fighting as a highly decked-out duo will definitely be a ton of fun, so hopefully NetherRealm Studios adds the feature to customize the Kameo characters.
We’re only a few days away from launch, so we should be getting confirmation regarding the customization options pretty soon. But fans can rest assured that they’ll be able to fight and perform gruesome fatalities in their awesome style.
