Fans of Peacemaker can breathe a sigh of relief as their beloved characters are set to make an appearance in the DC Universe before Season 2 of the show. James Gunn, DC Studios Co-CEO, confirmed the return of Adrian Chase, also known as Vigilante, for further action sooner than anticipated.
Gunn announced Threads in response to a fan’s question about when they would see the character again. Gunn stated, “Probably before Peacemaker Season 2.”
James Gunn Revealed the Potential Scenarios for Vigilante’s Appearance
Portrayed by Freddie Stroma in the popular Max series, Vigilante quickly won over audiences with his unique friendship with Peacemaker and his remarkably effective combat skills. As of now, very little is known about Peacemaker Season 2.
James Gunn has revealed that he will likely commence work on the next season once he completes Creature Commandos and Superman: Legacy, both of which are part of the rebooted DCU. Consequently, fans are speculating about where Vigilante might resurface, with the in-development Waller series, a Peacemaker spinoff, being a plausible option.
Another potential avenue could be Creature Commandos, as Gunn has confirmed that at least one character from that series will play a significant role in Waller. Gunn explained that the characters will interact across different stories, although certain narratives may remain more contained, such as The Brave and the Bold featuring Batman and Robin. However, details about the Waller series have yet to be officially disclosed, so any connections remain speculative.
DC Fans React to James Gunn’s Announcement
James Gunn along with Peter Safran is now the head of the new DC Universe. Prior to this, Zack Snyder was the architect of the DC universe, which was also known as the SnyderVerse. However, the transition from SnyderVerse to the new DC verse has not been easy for fans. From not continuing with the verse’s lead actors like Henry Cavill who portrayed Superman, to altering timelines – things have been rough for the fans.
Accusing Gunn of scrapping SnyderVerse by favoring his own projects, they wrote on Twitter
Peacemaker, a spinoff of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, premiered in 2022. The series follows the eponymous character, portrayed by John Cena, as he seeks redemption for his past heinous acts, which he claims were done in the name of peace.
Peacemaker garnered praise from both fans and critics for its exploration of the character’s psyche alongside the trademark zaniness and violence of the DCU. Season 1 of Peacemaker is currently available for streaming on Max, while there is no confirmed release date for Season 2 at present.
