The upcoming sequel will explore an alternate ending to its predecessor, as Neville comes to realize that Darkseekers are capable of love and connection. While the premise of the sequel resonates with its predecessor, this time the focus of the story will shift to the Darkseekers.
According to the book, there is a possibility that Jordan might be cast in the role of a Darkseeker. Since the release of I Am Legend, fans have been eagerly anticipating its sequel. The news of Jordan’s involvement in the film has indeed created a buzz among the fans.

During an interaction with a news outlet, Akiva Goldsman, the screenwriter of I Am Legend, provided insight into the upcoming sequel of the film. The filmmaker said,
“We trace back to the original Matheson book and the alternate ending as opposed to the released ending in the original film. What Matheson was talking about was that man’s time on the planet as the dominant species had come to an end. That’s a really interesting thing we’re going to get to explore. There will be a little more fidelity to the original text.”
Based on Goldsman’s statement, it can be inferred that if the sequel adheres to the plot of the book, fans may have the opportunity to witness the lead protagonist, Smith, as the last surviving human. Meanwhile, the character speculated to be portrayed by Jordan could potentially be one of the monstrous Darkseekers, serving as a potential antagonist in the film.
