‘Metal Gear Solid Master Collection’ Games CAN Be Bought Separately- But Are They Worth The Price?

According to Konami, each game featured in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 can be bought separately. The collection is made up of the first three entries in the Metal Gear Solid franchise; Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

After months of rumours and leaks the collection was unveiled at this year’s PlayStation Showcase, to the delight of fans. Along with the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1, Konami used the conference to also confirm the long-awaited from-the-ground-up remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The recent announcements from Konami mark the first official content for the Metal Gear Solid franchise since the release of the much-maligned Metal Gear Survive in 2018.

The Cost of Freedom: How Much Will Each Game in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 Cost?

So, the most important question on the minds of fans is; How much will each entry cost? Along with the announcement that each game will be sold separately a price tag has also been attached, and it is not cheap. Konami confirmed that each individual title will be available for $19.99 each. Now this may be a bit of a steep price for three games that are almost 20 years old, but the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 seems to be a bit more than just an HD skin or update.

By the use of Vol. 1, there is hope that further instalments of the franchise will receive the “Master Collection” treatment, but there has been no official announcement as of yet. The game that Metal Gear Solid fans will want to see for a new generation of consoles most will likely be Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

The title has remained locked away as a PS3 exclusive since its release in 2008. The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will also mark the first time since 2013’s  Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection, that the first three games are available together as one complete package.
