It’s quite common for celebrities to not get along while working on a project together. However, it’s hard to believe that the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise would have troubles, considering how much they value “family.”
Vin Diesel and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s feud is not a secret. Johnson joined the franchise in 2011 after he appeared as Luke Hobbs in Fast Five. In 2016, Johnson called out his male co-stars in an Instagram post, claiming that they lacked professionalism. The rest of the cast had a neutral stance on their feud, however, Tyrese Gibson made it clear that he is on Dwayne Johnson’s side.
Tyrese Gibson blamed Dwayne Johnson for the delay in the release schedule of F9
In 2017, actor Tyrese Gibson blamed Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson for causing the delay in the release schedule of F9. He claimed that Johnson is selfish for leaving the main series for his spin-off movie, Hobbs & Shaw.
The actor called Johnson a “clown” and claimed that he wanted to be the “only one” on the poster. He also revealed that he and Ludacris were also offered a spin-off movie but they turned it down. Around that time, Johnson didn’t hold back as well, he called one of Gibson’s albums “dogs**t.”
The two celebrities ended their feud
Roughly three years after Gibson slammed Johnson publicly on his Instagram, it was revealed that the two celebrities have settled their feud. In 2020, Tyrese Gibson appeared on Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz and revealed that he and Johnson had a four-hour-long conversation. He said,
“Me and The Rock peaced up. We talked for like four hours about three weeks ago. Yeah, we talked… It was great. What’s interesting about the Fast & Furious is, it’s not about any of us individually. See, we’re like the U.N. at this point. Everyone gets to go to the theater and say he and she looks like me.”
Tyrese Gibson plays the role of Roman Pierce in the franchise. He was first introduced in 2 Fast 2 Furious alongside Paul Walker.
Will Dwayne Johnson return to the franchise?
In 2021, Dwayne Johnson announced on his Twitter that he is leaving the Fast & Furious franchise. He wrote,
“I wish them well on Fast 9. And I wish them the best of luck on Fast 10 and Fast 11 and the rest of the Fast and Furious movies they do that will be without me.”
Many fans speculated that this came due to his feud with Vin Diesel. However, Johnson returned as Agent Luke Hobbs in the latest Fast & Furious movie, Fast X. There are rumors now that Johnson will rejoin the franchise as he reportedly settled his feud with Vin Diesel.
