Marvel Head Kevin Feige has been instrumental in pioneering the creation of the MCU and its mammoth six phases that kicked off with 2008’s Iron Man. The franchise took the world by storm with Feige being the brainchild behind the various threads of the narratives leading up to the Avengers ensemble and beyond. However, the producer’s history with the association goes back even further to the time of the X-Men franchise.
Feige, who has always been a Marvel enthusiast and expert, was not only the associate producer on the X-Men films but also played a significant role in making key decisions for the franchise. One of his contributions involved tweaking the look of Hugh Jackman’s character, Wolverine, which ultimately went on to become a recognizable feature for the clawed mutant.
Kevin Feige Was Responsible For Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Hairstyle
Besides being the brain behind the MCU, Marvel head Kevin Feige has been deeply involved with Marvel comics with an in-depth knowledge of the various universes and characters. Feige who was also involved in the X-Men franchise in the capacity of Associate Producer, made his presence felt by giving certain important inputs regarding the various characters in the narrative including suggesting the best hairstyle for Hugh Jackman’s character Wolverine. Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Entertainment Avi Arad recalled the producer echoing his thoughts about the character’s hairstyle which both felt, was not convincing.
“And Kevin was the guy that I can call and say, ‘I just saw the hair on Wolverine. Do you agree that it’s weird?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ ‘So, let’s do something about it.’
While it is unclear if Kevin Feige was aiming to stay close to the look of Wolverine in the comics or far away from it, the fact remains that his decision to make Hugh Jackman look the way he did, resulted in gaining cult status for Wolverine in the films.
Kevin Feige’s Statement On The Actors Strike
The Writers and Actors Strike has been creating a stir in Hollywood with creative artists in the entertainment industry seeking justice through better remuneration and recognition for their work. With the two unions working together to find a solution, many film and television productions have come to a halt owing to the lack of writers and other creative personnel. Marvel Head Kevin Feige is expectedly facing a lot of pressure owing to many of the MCU projects being indefinitely stalled. The producer in a carefully worded statement, spoke about finding the best way to get the industry back to work.
“We recognize how much you’ve all done on your specific projects and it’s disappointing when carefully laid plans have to shift, but constant change is the nature of the production business, and our teams are no stranger to unexpected challenges and rising to meet them. We deeply appreciate all your efforts to make the best of the situation, and we can all hope that a new agreement will be finalized soon so we can resume the great work we have in process.”
This comes at a time when Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are pushing to develop Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU. More recently, Deadpool 3 was the current MCU film that had to stall its production and is now set to release worldwide on May 3rd, 2024.
