Whether it is all about appearance, acrobatics, size, or strength, every role has specific physical requirements. Although Canadian-American actor, Pablo Schreiber is already in great shape, the body he has to prepare for Halo Season 2 depends on the role he is going to play.
Pablo Schreiber, who plays Master Chief in the Halo series, has been putting in a lot of effort in order to get ready for the second season of the show.
The Wire’s Nick Sobotka gave the Canadian-born actor, his big break, and he has since gone on to play several other commendable roles. He has played chameleonic characters rather than adopting the role of an action hero, despite standing 6’5″ tall.
Therefore, it should not come as a surprise that Halo, the Paramount+ series based on the immensely popular video game franchise, has been gaining attention for its character-focused storytelling after initially receiving unfavorable reviews.
And special mention should be made of Schreiber’s deeper exploration of his role in the science fiction series.

Pablo Schreiber’s Deadly Training for Halo Season 2
Pablo Schreiber has increased his level of dedication for his role in the eagerly awaited second season of Halo, the popular television series based on the well-known video game franchise.
The actor, known for his devotion to immersive performances, underwent a rigorous Spartan training regimen that enabled him to move while donning 50 lbs of the Spartan suit. The 45-year-old revealed some important devices that helped him transform into an action hero (via Men’s Health).
“Shooting was an incredibly grueling physical challenge. You’re working out more and eating more than anyone would want to.”
Since turning 40, Schreiber has added more mobility and recovery exercises to his workouts to reduce the risk of injury from weightlifting. He introduced a Halo-like neck-strengthening device, which according to him:
“It can give your neck more size, and it also bulletproofs your upper spine from being able to withstand punishment.”
These PowerBlocks are his favorite because they are made to last a lifetime and have an easy-to-use pin to change weights.
“Most adjustable dumbbells use mechanical knobs that can rust and get dirt in them. They’re my go-to dumbbells.”
To prevent injuries brought on by training, Schreiber stretches his shoulders with cables.
“They’ve really helped me stay in the game and have those bulletproof shoulders you need to not have down days. It’s my favorite cardio and strength machine.”
For his standing rower, he said:
“It gets you into a deep squat while you pull down on the ropes, so it’s really great for a full body workout.”

Pablo Schreiber On Playing Halo’s Ripped Hero
According to Pablo Schreiber (Master Chief in the Halo series), the 50 lbs of the Spartan suit he will be wearing in the upcoming series is extremely difficult to perform in. The Master Chief’s armor is one of the things that makes the Halo franchise unique.
In an interview with THR, Schreiber discussed the difficulties in bringing the character of Master Chief to life and disclosed that the 50-pound prop suit makes performing extremely challenging. He explained:
“It’s 50 pounds of plastic and the suit is meant to make you superhuman — it enhances the Spartan’s capability for his performance tenfold. In reality, it’s the opposite. It’s a challenge to manipulate a cumbersome costume and find ways to shoot it so it looks like you’re super capable.”
The role required extensive preparation. Schreiber had to bulk up significantly in addition to attending several boot camps (both for learning how to use weapons and brushing up on 20 years of Halo mythology), as he explained to The Guardian in 2022:
“Over the past five or six years I’ve put on 30 to 40 pounds of muscle.”
After finishing season one of Halo, he reduced his weight once again to 190 pounds so that he could play Allan Gore in the 2022 true crime series, Candy. He is once again at 245 pounds in preparation for the second season of Halo.
“I wanted to push the physicality as far as I could push it for my, you know, genetic limitations.”
Although an exact release date for Halo season 2 has not been specified, we believe it could happen in the first few months of 2024.
Meanwhile watch season one of Halo, which is available to stream on Paramount Plus.
