Marvel's Wolverine

Marvel’s Wolverine is another example of a Marvel Comics character that does not stop appearing in the gaming world and won’t anytime soon. This feels especially true because with the end of the development of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, teams are starting to move within Insomniac to the next project.

The development will accelerate to a certain extent, although some previous reports indicated the game’s release date would aim for the end of next year. However, that deadline is undoubtedly at the mercy of changes due to the impact that could be caused by the a writers strike.

If SAG-AFTRA extend its strike to the video game industry, Insomniac Games was listed as one of the major studios that could be struck.

Marvel’s Wolverine is slowly coming to excited gamers.

Insomniac Games embarked on this journey of adapting Marvel Comics heroes to video games with 2018’s Marvel’s Spider-Man, and now has Wolverine as its fourth project in the pipeline.

In March 2023, the developer’s chief programmer, Elan Ruskin, revealed the company is continuing to advance the quality of its games and that both this and Spider-Man 2 will have “new and exciting dialogue technology”.

Other details that have already been revealed seem to indicate that the game is expected to have a semi-open design map, similar to that of God of War and similar worlds. Also, an element much approved by fans, the title will likely have an adult rating, with a much more mature narrative.

As for the story, Walt Williams was named as narrative director for Marvel’s Wolverine. He previously worked on Spec Ops: The Line and due to his appointment in 2022, the title may take longer to be developed, as he works to ensure that the game’s script is perfected.

Fans of the anti-hero, Insomniac games, or both, have been excitedly waiting since the teaser trailer was announced in 2021, during the PlayStation Showcase. Those fans need to have a little more patience, but it will ultimately pay off with the delivery of yet another very good story .
