Despite PlayStation regarding this State of Play focused on indie games and third-party studio games, fans received another look at Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. The voice of Bryan Intihar, Senior Creative Director at Insomniac Games, expanded what’s in the world of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as the Spider-Men can now explore Queens and Brooklyn, doubling the map size. In addition, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is expanding its roster of villains from the ones we already seen. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already chock full of villains such as Venom and Kraven but more are expected to appear in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man universe.
More Villains in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year and we’re almost one month out from its release. The new open-world gameplay mechanics of switching between Peter and Miles instantly is all thanks to the power of the PlayStation 5. Over 65 suits from the movies and comic books alongside new original designs.
The villains of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2; Venom, Kraven and the Lizard, are already strong villains to give our Spider-Men trouble. However, Intihar has teased more villains are in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Villains that have not yet been introduced in their universe but will make an appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. These villains will likely act as side missions leading up to a “climactic showdown.”
One of the first villains teased in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 that isn’t one of the big three is Wraith. Likely to be Yuri Watanabe from the previous game, she will become this new persona in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 after her traumatic experience in Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps DLC.
From the Marvel comic books, Watanabe met a similar fate as in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. She would take on this double-life style to become the Spider-Man villain, Wraith. She was teased in the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Kraven Introduction video where you can see Wraith pop into the map after the Prowler. How much trouble will give Wraith our Spider-Men has yet to be seen but this one feels personal.
The other villain teased looks like a nobody from the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 universe. Someone we’ve never seen before but the purple cloak and the green smokey mission icons makes fans believe he is Mysterio. Another iconic Spider-Man villain looks to be making their debut in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Mysterio’s big on-screen splash was in Spider-Man: Far From Home, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. Mysterio is making another video game appearance in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Mysterio has been in other Spider-Man video games, notably the Sam Raimi movie tie-in game, Spider-Man 2. Even though Mysterio was not in the Sam Raimi film, he was a boss fight in the video game.
Nothing is confirmed if this character is Mysterio but the writing is on the wall. The purple suit and the smokey green mission icons look to be side missions related to fighting Mysterio in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Let’s hope this climactic showdown delivers illusions to deceive the player in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
Mysterio? Wraith? Who Else is in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2?
While these two were given a brief look in the new Bryan Intihar Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 video, we do not know if there’s anymore villains in this blockbuster title. Insomniac Games could be hiding more villains not shown in the trailers already seen but Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is looking to be filled with villains from their rogues gallery.
