We are all excited about the news about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 shown at State of Play and the release getting closer every day. Clips and images appear on social media surrounded by entusiastic phrases made by fans around the world who can’t wait to swing around New York’s buildings with their friendly neighborhood heroes. Speaking of the city itself, the game’s open world map will be much more improved compared to its predecessors from 2019 and 2020. The changes include renovation, expansion and brand new activities to have fun on the setting of Spider-Man 2.
Brand New Activities System Is One Of The Main Features Of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
One highlight of the presentation that brought new material from the web-heads’ new adventure was fast travel or changing characters across the map, being practically instantaneous and making the gameplay even more fluid, one of the main merits of the franchise that fits the character so well and for that reason it is one of the most praised superhero video games of all time.
Much had been said about the size and travel that could be done through it in the game but the public finally got to see all the web-swinging around the city in action. The entire map, its activities, the progress made by districts and the fast travel between them will have a new look in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
As previously promised by the developers, the size of the open world has almost doubled, including Brooklyn and Queens, which include very important settings for character development such as Midtown High, Peter Parker’s old school and Miles’ current school, the Brooklyn Visions Academy , which will now be part of the story. Mobility will also be streamlined with the web wings that join the swinging of webs as a way of traveling pleasantly through the city to be protected by each player.
Now we just need to play to see if everything promised really works, but Insomniac has never really disappointed and the video doesn’t avoid showing the free exchange between Peter and Miles across the map, for example. The activities that always populate the game map now have other forms, such as flocks of Kraven’s robotic birds or symbols “mysteriously” projected in the air. The justification for seeing pop-ups suspended over elements because the heroes use AR technology on their mask lenses still works and is still present.
The “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” application, which was exclusive to Miles, now returns to the main title and makes it possible to follow and even collaborate with the activities of NPCs, some being exclusive to a specific Spider-Man. Progress made by completing missions in each district now also unlocks new rewards such as technologies and costumes and fast travel.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will have more than 65 costumes that include both original designs and references to comics, films and series and now each player will be able to customize the costumes with the Suit Style system, which has been requested by fans for a long time. If all this excited you, know (or remember) that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will be available from October 20th, so prepare your PlayStation 5 for the almost 100 GB of storage and your heart for loads of action.
