No doubt many of you will have already caught sight of the various suits that will feature in the game, but now one Twitter/X user has posted up about the battle-damage feature.

What’s the latest with Spider-Man 2?

Is Spider-Man 2 one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the year?

Well, according to verified YouTuber @Blitzwinger, he was aware that on his playthrough, the suits would show up the damage taken for the mission or crime being tackled. However, the damage to the suits in Spider-Man 2 would then disappear at the end of that segment of play.

He also flagged that he wasn’t sure whether this was only for the Advanced and Upgraded suits or if these were the ones he managed to experience on his recent playthrough.

But one fan was quick to point out a significant point in comparison to another superhero title, Batman: Arkham Asylum. If you can’t remember back that far or haven’t played the game, then the Bat costume also had a battle-damage feature. And this was brought up by the YouTuber on the back of his post:

“HOLD UP. So in Batman Arkham Asylum on the Xbox 360 (2009) the suit gets more and more visibly damaged as you progress through the game. But in Spider-Man 2 on the PS5 (2023) the suit gets damaged in combat but instantly and magically returns to normal after a fight. WTF?” – @SnapBlastPLAY

He has a point. Could they not have maintained the battle damage to the suits and had some sort of repair mechanism upon the completion of side missions? It would make sense to maintain the realism of the damage done, surely?

Some fans seem to be in favor of the battle damage feature in Spider-Man 2 disappearing:

“Because it’s annoying constantly having a damaged suit? 99% of people want their suit to look nice and clean most of the time.” – @EgorgianBoisttt

One thing we don’t know for certain is what level of battle damage we will see on the suits. Are we talking about “Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man battling the Green Goblin in the first movie” level of damage? Or will it be a few scrapes and scuffs that just seem to brush off as you move on to the next challenge?

Can't imagine we'll see much battle damage on the symbiote suit.

Whatever your opinion on the matter, the fact remains that it’s nothing new. As pointed out by many fans, this feature was already present in Spider-Man: Miles Morales. However, we’re sure that this feature won’t detract from your love for the game when you finally get your hands on it next month.

But what are your thoughts on the latest news for Spider-Man 2? Do you agree with the battle damage feature currently in place? Or do you think it should be more realistic and consistent? Get in touch, drop us a comment, and let us know your thoughts.
