Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Accessibility Options Leaked, and you can Slow Down Time!

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is only two months away. PlayStation’s most highly anticipated game of the year just received new accessibility options, a key feature they continue to include in their first party triple-A titles. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is improving the accessibility options by including the option to slow down the action during gameplay and new audio descriptions for cinematic scenes.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s ability to ‘slow down the action’

In the now deleted FAQ, Insomniac Games answered the question about accessibility gameplay options in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. They introduced these new features to “allow [Marvel’s Spider-Man 2] to be enjoyed by more players of different abilities.”

The biggest one is the ability to slow down time by 30%, 50%, or 70%. Players can switch back to normal speed at any time. Audio and Captions have also been improved, providing a read aloud option for all on-screen text in menus and audio descriptions for cinematic cutscenes.

Prior to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games were already going to great lengths to make their Marvel’s Spider-Man games as accessible as possible. The same can be said about other PlayStation Studios games such as The Last of Us Part I and God of War Ragnarök. On the Insomniac Games Support website, they detail all the accessibility options for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Accessible gameplay options such as QTE Auto Complete and Enhanced Auto Aim made gameplay easier to those struggling with quick time events or aiming at objects.

The Spider-Men in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will likely have all the gameplay accessibility features of the previous games on top of the new slow down option. The slow down feature should make fights easier, especially bosses. If you’re finding trouble getting the timing right on a certain boss fight, slowing it down to 30% or even 70% should make fights in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 a lot easier.

The audio descriptions will allow blind players to enjoy the story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. To those unaware, an audio description is a voice over reading the text and describing what’s happening on screen. Audio descriptions help those who can’t see the screen and the voice over gives them a much better idea of what’s happening. Here’s an example of the Lion King with audio descriptions enabled. By introducing on-screen captions and audio descriptions for cinematic cutscenes, blind players will be able to enjoy the story of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
