When Marvel’s Avengers video game was first announced, fans were excited beyond measure. After all, playing as super heroes we’ve been seeing on the silver screen for years, such as Iron Man, Black Widow and Captain America, would be insanely awesome. And it was, but only to a point.

Marvel’s Avengers was a live service game to the disappointment of many fans, especially when it failed to live up to expectations. Now, as the game nears its sunset, there’s been some information that the developers were planning to add some new heroes to the roster, only for these plans to be scrapped.
When does Marvel’s Avengers shut down?
Developer Crystal Dynamics announced in January that the Marvel’s Avengers would shut down on September 30th, which is rapidly approaching. There would be one final content update, which released on March 31st, and that would be it. No new heroes, no new enemies, no new content of any sort post that date. In fact, Marvel’s Avengers will even be pulled from gaming storefronts and marketplaces.

Over the three years the game was live, it faced numerous problems. These challenges included a less than enthusiastic initial response from fans and critics, several bugs and technical glitches, networking issues and behind the scenes trouble as well. All of these factors contributed to fewer and fewer players playing Marvel’s Avengers, despite updates, and eventually led to the game shutting down.
Which heroes were about to be added to the Marvel’s Avengers?
Despite the announcement that the game will shut down in September, Marvel’s Avengers seemingly had plans to add more heroes to the game. A dataminer shared some dialogue following the shut down announcement, from Patch 2.7.2. which had released on January 24th. This data shows that the heroes about to be added to the game included She – Hulk and Captain Marvel.

Both these character are popular, with their own movies or web series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with future appearances planned as well. So it makes sense that Marvel’s Avengers would want to add them, and they had seemingly even written dialogue for the two. The duo interact with each other as well as the other heroes already present in the game, with conversations ranging from light-hearted and humorous to grim and serious.
