The release of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie in theatres on July 21 is less than two weeks away, but the plot of the film is still unclear to fans. The story itself is purposefully hazy, with director Gerwig merely teasing that “disco” music and “technicolor musicals like The Wizard of Oz” served as inspiration for the film.

Fans have taken to social media with a newfound theory stating that the upcoming Barbie might just feature Zack Snyder’s Marvel jokes. Seems really surprising right? Well, to support this theory, fans are focusing on one of the movie’s promotional images featuring Ryan Gosling, Ncuti Gatwa, and Kingsley Ben-Adir as Ken.
After seeing Kingsley Ben-Adir in the image, fans believe the Mattel Doll movie will touch upon Marvel’s Snyder cut scenes since Adir is famously known for playing Gravik in the series Secret Invasion. Though there might just be a possibility that the movie will casually throw friendly jokes at the secret agent series, there has been no official information given out regarding the theory. Fans believe Margot Robbie’s Barbie might be gay
As anticipation for the new Greta Gerwig movie soars, fans are growing more and more persuaded that Margot Robbie’s Barbie is a lesbian. However, how true are the lesbian rumors?
When lesbian icon Kate McKinnon gave Barbie the option between a high heel and a Birkenstock, sharp-eyed sapphics took that as their first cue. Following that, fans observed Barbie’s utter lack of interest in her boyfriend Ken.
The undeniable chemistry between Barbie and America Ferrera’s Gloria, a Mattel employee who follows Barbie down in the real world, has become the biggest hint yet. In one sequence, Gloria tells Barbie to get in her car in one scene, the two stare at each other with what can only be described as a Carol-like longing gaze.
Another theory also sees Ken as an antagonist. Fans are quite sure that the movie will touch upon subjects like gender roles and misogyny. So when Barbie and Ken set out in the real world, Ken, who is completely dependent on Barbie and is only known as Barbie’s boyfriend, may eventually become corrupted in the new world or he may start to dislike Barbie’s independence and even try to sabotage her journey.
