Man Of Steel vs. Man Of Adamantium: Wolverine’s New Power Boost Makes Him Superman’s Equal

In the Heroes Reborn Universe, the world has been turned upside down. The Avengers and most of Marvel’s original superhero teams no longer exist. In their absence, the onus of protecting the planet has fallen on the hands of the ruthless Squadron Supreme. Consisting of heroes that are basically a pastiche of the Justice League, the Squadron supreme are brutal but efficient in their ways. In the Heroes Reborn universe, Hyperion – Marvel’s Superman, becomes the world’s most powerful superhero.

Heroes Reborn – A Brave New World

This parallel reality created by Mephisto is a world nobody would be interested to live in. The Squadron Supreme have bolstered America’s expansionist ambitions. The ambitious superpower has now expanded into its friendly countries. Canada, a longtime United States ally, has had large swathes of its lands annexed by America with the aid of Squadron Supreme.

The rest of Canada not under American control is no picnic either. The parts of Canada America could not capture has been turned into a nuclear wasteland full of deadly radiation. From the remnants of Canada arose a new team – made up of Alpha Flight members like Sasquatch, Shaman, and Aurora. The leader of the team is none other than Weapon X aka Wolverine of the X-Men.

Wolverine Leads The New Alpha Flight In Occupied Canada

Wolverine’s rogue superhero team soon came into conflict with Squadron Supreme. The former were extremely outmatched and outgunned. But that was not to say they had no options left but to surrender. Wolverine had a plan. When the Squadron Supreme came looking for them, Wolverine laid a trap for the earth’s premier heroes. And he managed to do what nobody else on this planet had been able to – bring Hyperion to his knees.

Wolverine’s claws are made up of the strongest metal known to man in the Marvel Comic Book Universe. Adamantium is strong but it is still not enough to cut through Hyperion’s super hard skin. So he and Shaman joined forces. The latter used his magic to imbue a light blue hue to Wolverine’s claws. The mystically enhanced claws gave Logan the added edge he needed in battle to take down Hyperion.

The moment Squadron Supreme comes close enough, Wolverine leaps forward, leading the ambush. Hyperion was taken by surprise by the ambush. But the entire Squadron Supreme was taken aback when Wolverine’s claws managed to pierce Hyperion’s body. As an injured Hyperion lay in the arms of a shocked Power Princess (Wonder Woman pastiche), the entire world of Heroes Reborn came to a fantastic revelation.

Hyperion Can Be Killed. Wolverine Just Proved It.

Just like Hyperion, Superman‘s weaknesses include vulnerability to magic. Like kryptonite weakens his body, magic too makes his body susceptible to damage. Wolverine is already one of Marvel Comics’ deadliest killers and assassins. Since he now leads one of the only teams capable enough to fight Squadron Supreme, Wolverine beating Hyperion – Squadron Supreme’s strongest superhuman, is indeed a big deal.

But the story ends on a rather tragic note. The ambush is ultimately unsuccessful since one of the members of Wweaolverine’s team betrays them. Sasquatch holds Shaman hostage and the rest of Alpha Flight soon surrenders. For his actions against Hyperion, Wolverine is dragged to another world by Weapon X where he is forced to die a slow and painful death. Regardless, Wolverine just proved the world now has a way of defeating Hyperion.

And since it is Wolverine we are talking about, there’s a high chance he will return and make life hell for Marvel’s Superman once again.
