MCU’s Blade reboot seems to be suffering from a terrible stroke of luck. The original director, Bassam Tariq’s departure from the project first led to the forthcoming movie’s postponement, pushing its release from November 2023 to September 2024. Now, with Hollywood writers on strike, the movie was unfortunately enough, brought to a halt just a month before production was slated to commence in Atlanta.
However, amid unavoidable pushbacks and upsetting delays, Mia Goth’s alleged casting in Blade might be a silver lining for fans to hold onto.
Mia Goth Rumored to Portray Lilith in Blade (2024)
The vampire thriller starring Mahershala Ali recently hit yet another bump in the road after Marvel Studios had to hit pause on the project following the WGA strikes. The Yann Demange-helmed venture is also the first tentpole film to get affected by the flurry of ongoing protests.
Industry insider Daniel Richtman, however, comes bearing a piece of good news amidst gloomy times. In a series of new Patreon posts, Richtman revealed that X star Mia Goth has reportedly been cast as the central villain in Blade along with Delroy Lindo set to play Deacon Frost. He also mentioned that Aaron Pierre’s character has apparently been wiped out from the script which is why the 28-year-old actor won’t remain on the cast anymore.
While the veracity of said rumors remains unchecked, Goth, 29, is believed to take over the villainous Lilith, who appears as an ancient demon goddess and sorceress in the comics. And fans are absolutely thrilled, to say the least.
Mia Goth as Mother of Demons – Marvel Fans Are Having A Field Day
Popular for playing dark and oddly fascinating yet deranged characters, Goth has starred in a number of slashers, thrillers, and horror films including X, Pearl, Suspiria, and The Survivalist.
As wild as her movies might be, however, her peculiar and disturbing aura, or that of her characters’, is exactly what keeps the audience hooked on the screens. So, if there’s anybody who’d be fit to play MCU’s Lilith, it would be her. The character is literally referred to as the Mother of Demons, it’s like the role is tailor-made for Goth. And fans seem to think the same.
MCU’s Blade reboot is expected to resume production as soon as the writer’s strike comes to an end. But there’s no possible way of saying just when that will be, fans can only hope it’ll be sooner than later.
Blade is set to release on September 6, 2024.
