The past year has been quite rough for comedian Chris Rock. The comedian got slapped on stage by actor Will Smith because he made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head. He has remained a popular figure in the entertainment industry for quite some time and has inspired many celebrities like Rihanna. While Rihanna saw him as an elder role model, Rock had different plans.
In 2016, the comedian tried to flirt with superstar Rihanna after ending his 20-year-long marriage, however, Rihanna instantly rejected him because of this one reason. This wasn’t the first time the singer had to reject a famous celebrity.
Chris Rock tried to flirt with Rihanna
In his 2018 Netflix special, Chris Rock: Tamborine, comedian Chris Rock recalled the time he tried to flirt with singer Rihanna. The comedian said,
“After my divorce was final, I was at a party and I saw Rihanna. I was like, ‘OK, let’s start this again. Let me say what’s up,’ right? And I’m like, ‘How you doing, Rihanna?’ Rihanna looked at me like I was one of her aunts. She didn’t even register me as a d**k-carrying member of society. Like, I would have had an easier time f**king Aretha Franklin.”
Rock’s marriage with Malaak Compton came to an end after two decades because Rock reportedly cheated on her with three women. Admitting his mistake, the comedian blamed his attitude for the infidelity.
Rihanna “uncle-zoned” Chris Rock
During his 2018 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rock further revealed that Rihanna saw him as her uncle,
“When a girl says she doesn’t want to have s*x with you, at least she thought about having s*x with you – but I was, like, in the Uncle Zone.”
Many celebrities like Drake and Justin Bieber have been rejected by Rihanna so it’s not a surprise that Rock, who is 23 years older than her, got rejected.
Chris Rock was slapped by Will Smith
People will never forget the 94th Academy Awards for all the wrong reasons. During the iconic award show, Rock, who was on the stage for his presentation for Best Documentary Feature, was slapped by actor Will Smith.
The comedian made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head, which was a result of a medical condition known as alopecia areata. Later Smith apologised to Rock, but the comedian has continued to take subtle digs at the actor. The slap instantly went viral and managed to overshadow the rest of the event.
