Letitia Wright Confirms Wakanda Forever Planned to Make Shuri Black Panther Even if Chadwick Boseman Was Alive

When the world was coming to terms with the death of legendary actor Chadwick Boseman, the one looming question was who would be next in line to replace him as T’Challa, to go even further, who would be the next Black Panther in the MCU. This was quite a pretty tough nail to crack for the team at Marvel Studios, but they eventually found the successor.

It’s been over a month since MCU fans saw the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and almost every fan would agree that it did well on its part to honor the legacy of Chadwick Boseman. Letitia Wright Says Shuri Was Bound To Become Black Panther

Chadwick Boseman‘s death was so deep-hitting that even the deaths of Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff paled in comparison to the news of his passing.

It can all be credited to him only- the 21 Bridges star is an amazing actor, which fans would’ve already made out after watching the James Brown biopic musical, Get on Up, which he was the main star of. His portrayal of Black Panther, let alone T’Challa was impressive, alluring, and mysterious.

One may think that replacing an actor like Boseman from the title of Black Panther would be impossible after such an amazing display. But Wakanda Forever star Letitia Wright says that it was bound to happen and that Shuri was going to be the successor to T’Challa.

Speaking during an appearance on the Empire Movie Podcast, the Sing 2 star revealed-

“It was bittersweet. Shuri was always gonna do it, but it was gonna be done in a different way where her brother was gonna be alongside her, really explore that, like the comic books, the ways in which T’Challa and Shuri would be Black Panther alongside each other and try to figure out how to defend their nation.”

Having two great Wakandan warriors would’ve been quite the spectacle. Regardless, Wright then expresses her disappointment at what could’ve been-

“But unfortunately, that’s not how it panned out… I knew the responsibility, I knew the weight of it, but it was just bittersweet, something I struggled with a lot. But [I’m] extremely proud of myself, had great support.”

Succeeding an actor like Chadwick Boseman is no job, and fans would be glad to know that she got all the support she needed to take up the responsibility in Wakanda Forever– a truly impressive sequel!
