The film will see the I, Tonya star bring alive the famous and beautiful blonde doll that continues to be a rage with young girls. In an interview with Vogue ahead of the release, Margot Robbie spoke about all things Barbie including her research into the history of the Barbie doll and its evolution over the years. The actor also revealed her love for old movies and her penchant for trains and train journeys that prompted her to revisit a yesteryear classic.
Margot Robbie Has An Obsession For Trains
Among the many topics that Margot Robbie covered in her in-depth interview with Vogue, trains and train based films was a subject of detailed discussion. The Suicide Squad star confessed that she would fervently check out train related websites when she was not working. The celebrity and her husband Tom Ackerley ticked an item off their bucket list by booking a holiday on the Orient Express made famous through Agatha Christie’s popular murder mystery, Murder on the Orient Express. Robbie also created a realistic ambience on board by watching the Oscar winning film and soaking in the nuances.
“I was watching the Sidney Lumet version of Murder on the Orient Express while I was on board, just because I’m a loser, and I was, like, checking the background of every shot. In the morning they woke up in Switzerland. “You literally wake up and you open the window and it looks like The Sound of Music.”
Apart from the Orient express, Robbie and Ackerley also travelled by the popular Seven Stars, a seven-car train that travels through the Japanese island of Kyushu. The actor expressed her desire to travel on many more iconic trains in the future to satiate her obsession.
Margot Robbie Once Doubted Her Career Choice
Despite a meteoric rise to the big leagues in Hollywood, Margot Robbie confessed once in an interview, that she was unsure if being in showbiz was the right career choice for her. The actor stated that the more fame she was blessed with, the more she questioned her worth in the industry which led to some challenging times mentally. Ultimately it was Robbie’s mother who put things in perspective for the actor with some sound and wise advice that only a parent can give.
“Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mom, ‘I don’t think I want to do this.’ And she just looked at me, completely straight-faced, and was like, ‘Darling, I think it’s too late not to.’ That’s when I realized the only way was forward.”
Following her mother’s words of wisdom, Margot Robbie took the plunge and embraced her fame and all the trappings of being in the public glare and went from strength to strength over the years with her film choices. The actor is now considered a complete performer apart from being one of the most beautiful stars in Hollywood.
