“Just a baller move really”: Johnny Depp Won’t Watch $654M Disney Movie That Gave Him Oscar Nod After Mouse House Abandoned Him Following Amber Heard Drama

Johnny Depp is one of the most widely acclaimed dignitaries in Hollywood. A seamless actor with a remarkable personality, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor is globally renowned and applauded for perfectly portraying the trickster pirate in the movie series, Captain Jack Sparrow, among other characters. But as secrets go, Depp has one of his own that is rather unbelievable.

As admitted by the Edward Scissorhands actor during his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has never seen the first movie of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, the movie that gave him an Oscar nomination for his outstanding performance.

Johnny Depp is one of the most loved and respected leading A-listers in Hollywood. During his nearly 30-year-old career, the 60-year-old actor has landed lead roles in numerous superhit movies and multi-billionaire franchises, including Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean movie series.

While it was all thanks to his outstanding performance as the lead in the first movie of the series that the franchise went ahead to spawn five more sequels, Depp revealed during his defamation trial against Amber Heard that he had never watched the first film of the series, i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

Although it is common for TV stars to not watch their own movies, this confession of Depp came out as rather weird, judging how the movie got him his first Academy Awards nomination for Best Actor. Well, to each their own.

Matthew Belloni Calls Johnny Depp Not Watching First Pirates Movie ‘A Baller Move’

After this strange disclosure of refusing to watch his own Oscar-nominated movie by Johnny Depp, the actor’s past involvement with Disney’s $4.52 billion worth Pirates of the Caribbean franchise came into question. Responding to this, the founder of Puck News Matthew Belloni took to Twitter to share the Edward Scissorhands star’s statement, saying,

“Johnny Depp just said in court he never saw the first Pirates movie. Remember, he was nominated for an Oscar for that film. Just a baller move right there.”

Following the five sequels to the Disney franchise’s first movie, a sixth sequel is said to be in the making. However, fans are afraid they might not be able to see Johnny Depp reprising his Jack Sparrow role, considering how Dinsey abandoned him during his messy divorce drama with Amber Heard, after which the actor refused to return to Disney no matter what. But with rumors popping up every now and then about his return to the franchise, fans are only hoping for the best.
