Appearing in a little mysterious film called Stolen, Jon Hamm played the role of Tom Adkins, who was hell-bent on investigating his son’s disappearance. Shooting it after the first season of Mad Men, Hamm mentioned finding the plot super relatable. “I liked the sort of dual storyline format of the script. I thought it was an interesting way to tell the story, so I signed on.” Hamm stated.

Jon Hamm Nearly Desecrated His Mad Men Fame

Finding the story exciting, Jon Hamm claimed to have signed the role in between shooting Mad Men. “We had just finished the first season and I was unemployed, so I was like, ‘Now what?’” Hamm mentioned. Thus, finding the opportunity to appear in the 2009 mystery thriller, the actor recalled what drove him to the role.

I lost my mother very early in my life, and it was very clear she wasn’t coming back. But if there is a question mark at all hanging over the disappearance or in the loss of someone that you care about, then that would engender an intense obsession with erasing that question mark” Jon Hamm stated.

While Hamm personally liked the storyline and appeared in the movie, audiences and critics weren’t quite impressed with it. With barely a few viewers and critics in the theatres, the actor’s 2009 movie turned out to be his most forgettable project of all time. Although Hamm is accustomed to enjoying critical and commercial success, he faced a major setback after Stolen, which almost ruined his career.
