The anticipation for Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy film has increased as a result of the success of his recent Marvel Studios film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. This follows the contentious announcement that Henry Cavill wouldn’t be playing Superman again because Gunn wanted to concentrate on a younger version of the character.

Superman: Legacy, the first film in the relaunched DC Universe, has received a lot of information, including the release date, the start of production, and the formal casting for the two starring characters. Since Max Fleischer’s animated stories in the 1940s, Superman has been a mainstay of movies, but Superman: Legacy will give the Man of Steel a wholly different tale but apart from that, the movie is also set to bring some interesting actors on the screen.

Peacemaker’s Freddie Stroma to star in the new Superman movie?

Now that James Gunn has been able to cast the leading roles of Superman and Lois Lane, the team had been holding numerous auditions to cast the surrounding characters like Lex Luther, Jimmy Olsen, and other surrounding cast. After all those auditions, looks like Gunn has decided to recast some of DCEU’s major actors. The theory gets supported by a recent comment Gunn left on Twitter.

David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan to appear in Superman: Legacy

In James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, David Corenswet will portray Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane.

The choice was made after the two were among the handful chosen to do a test in character before DC co-chairs Peter Safran and Gunn. Since Safran and Gunn wanted a thorough search to discover the new leads for this new series, the casting process for Superman: Legacy has been ongoing for months.

The movie will be Corenswet’s first significant role in a major studio production after his prior roles in We Own This City, The Politician, and Pearl. Brosnahan is coming off the last season of her breakout role in Amazon’s The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, for which she won an Emmy. Following what many have referred to as the best audition of the process, she has also been at the top of the list of women to play Lois Lane.

Although it will sad to say goodbye to Henry Cavill as Superman, fans are quite excited to see what’s coming in the future.
