Jodie Comer is an actress with a veritable range. But what the audience ubiquitously knows and loves her for is the portrayal of the delightfully sociopathic assassin, Villanelle, in Killing Eve (2019-2022).

Now, the 29-year-old British actress has snagged the attention of Marvel (and probably, Sarah Halley Finn) for the role of Sue Storm aka Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four which will kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel’s Fantastic Four has already been a talking point for months now because of Kevin Feige’s radical approach to its narrative. The film will not be an origin movie but begin mid-events with the already established and (dys-)functional superhero group. And since the announcement at this year’s SDCC, the rumors of actors perfect for the four comic hero roles have been splattered all across the internet and social media platforms. But so far, only the Reed Richards casting preferences have been resounding with strong opinions favoring either John Krasinski or Penn Badgley.
The Sue Storm advocates, on the other hand, have been spiraling with the barrage of actresses to pick from, beginning with Amanda Seyfried, Kristen Bell, Saoirse Ronan, Vanessa Kirby, Lily James, Melissa Benoist, and Lucy Boynton. However, with rumors suggesting that the production is looking for their roster of actors aged under 30, the choices have narrowed down by a huge margin. The cast will be definitively announced at the D23 Expo (being held at the Anaheim Convention Center from September 9th through 11th) but for now, reports suggest Jodie Comer is almost a hairline away from securing her spot as Sue Storm.

No other film can singlehandedly describe the acting chops of the emergent actress than The Last Duel. Narrated from the point of view of three different people, Jodie Comer delivers a wracking performance in three distinct styles, each more harrowing than the next. But this is not the only time she has stunned her audience. Comer has the gift of comedic timing, a balanced amalgamation of anguish and drama, and just the right amount of sociopathic glint in her eye to take home the Primetime Emmy Award for her performance in Killing Eve.

To say her role in the series defined her would be remiss. Villanelle established Jodie Comer in the industry as an immovable force in a career-defining part. However, she magnified her status exponentially with powerful performances in movies like Thirteen (2016) and Help (2021). Both projects focus on the narrative centered around Comer’s character and have been critically acclaimed. It would definitely be a revelation to witness what the diversely talented actress can bring to the table as Fantastic Four‘s Sue Storm.
