The Hong Kong film director Wong Jing also joined the debate as he shared his opinion on whether the Lethal Weapon 4 actor or The Karate Kid star is a better martial artist and actor.
Director Wong Jing on Jackie Chan vs. Jet Li Debate
The Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Jing has worked with both Jackie Chan and Jet Li in City Hunter (1993) and High Risk (1995), respectively. It is also reported that the director had a terrible experience working with Chan, and he decided to mock the legendary action star in his 1995 movie High Risk, starring Jet Li.
Having worked with both stars, he also shared his opinion on who would win a fight between the two. During an interview, he pointed out the plus points of each actor, saying that Lee’s expertise in handling weapons is something Chan lacks.
He shared that The Expendables actor has a better understanding of utilizing weapons effectively, even if it’s just a mere pole, a rope, or a branch. He further shared that while Chan cannot handle a weapon, his prominent weapons are his fists.
The High Risk director said that the Rush Hour star has strong body control and is quite agile when it comes to dodging and striking his opponents in the fight scenes. He stated that Chan is undeniably talented for injecting humor into his fighting sequences.
Jackie Chan Always Wanted to Work With Jet Li
Jackie Chan and Jet Li have been among some of the biggest action stars not only in the Asian film industry but also in Hollywood. And despite the ongoing fan wars, the Police Story star has shared that they have known each other for years and have been looking forward to working together.
During an interview with MTV News, the 69-year-old actor shared that once he tried working with his fellow martial artist. However, things got complicated when he took the offer from his company. Following a long discussion about who gets the rights to the movie, he told the company, “Who cares? Just make the movie!” And after a long wait, they finally got the chance to star alongside each other in the 2008 action adventure The Forbidden Kingdom.
