James Gunn’s highly anticipated and most awaited movie, The Flash, was released in June this year. The film features Ezra Miller in the lead, and there were supporting roles of Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue, and others. The film was deemed a box office hit as it was first released after James Gun and Peter Safran took over as the new CEO of DC Studios. However, the film fell flat at the movie theatres.
The poor gross of the film has made it comparable to the biggest flop of the DC universe, Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern.
Ezra Miller’s The Flash gross income
Ezra Miller’s first standalone film for the comic book superhero genre was The Flash. They made their debut in DC extended universe with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016. They also did a cameo in Suicide Squad and Justice League. The makers decided to create a franchise of the character Flash and the first film released in the mid-year of 2023. There was a lot of hype around the film and was deemed to be the biggest hit of the year. The film also has several cameos including former Batman actors Michael Keaton, Ben Affleck, and George Clooney.
However, despite numerous cameos and the hype, James Gunn‘s film was unsuccessful in the theatres. The theatrical collection of the film is $268 million worldwide, which is against the making budget of $220 million.

Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern Gross Income
Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. His superhero franchise is doing exceedingly well at the box office, and the new installment will release soon. However, there was a film that became the biggest embarrassment of the DC Extended Universe. The superhero film is based on the DC Comics character Green Lantern. It featured Reynolds, his wife Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins in prominent roles. The film was directed by Martin Campbell, and the script was by Greg Berlanti.
Green Lantern was released in June 2011 and turned out to be a box office failure. It faced criticism for its script, tone, visual effects, and deviation from the source material. It was one of the biggest box office bombs in cinematic history. Reynolds’ film grossed $220 million against a production budget of $200 million. There were plans for the sequel of the film, however, the poor performance of the film led to the scrapping of those plans.
