Dwayne Johnson, after making the boldest claims for his Black Adam late last year, put the final nail in the coffin for the already withering DCEU. The hierarchy of power ended up going into the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran.
At least we got to see Henry Cavill suit up in the end credits before he went on to face the music. When Warner Bros got tired of mishandling their DC property, they called in Gunn and Safran to clean up their mess and go for a hard reboot – thereby axing some of our favorite heroes.
Reports surfaced in March this year that James Gunn met with Henry Cavill in December last year, to talk him into assuming another character that could be integral to the former’s new DCU plans.
James Gunn Offered Henry Cavill His New DC Role?
The only role that fans want to see Cavill take on is the Man of Steel. James Gunn’s decision to move away from Henry Cavill after Black Adam tanking at the box office met with fans’ fury all over social media. The intense backlash pushed him to sit down with Cavill but not to offer him his cape back.
Before Gunn could clarify anything, fans had already gone bonkers casting him as Frankenstein. That gave birth to even more rumors that Cavill could join Gunn’s Creature Commandos. Nonetheless, Gunn’s experience at Marvel Studios just wasn’t enough to convince Cavill, who put his sweat and blood into playing Superman, to take on a different role.
James Gunn Came With Quick Clarification On A Fan’s Query
Maneuvering away from Walter Hamada turned out to be fruitful as James Gunn’s DCU is taking far better shape than what the former tried to accomplish, and he even defends it.
Quite active on Twitter, Gunn addressed the rumors of Cavill getting to play Frankenstein.
James Gunn realized that he couldn’t get away with trying to involve Cavill in his own new vision for the franchise. But, after a monstrous humiliation from Warner Bros, we can’t blame the 40-year-old actor if he chooses to jump ship to Marvel instead.
Superman: Legacy – James Gunn’s first DCU passion project is set to kickstart the new journey on July 11, 2025.
