The 2001 action-comedy film, Rush Hour 2 starred Jackie Chan along with Chris Tucker in their roles, Chief Inspector Lee and LAPD Detective James Carter respectively. The film revolved around the two cops who get involved in a murder case that gets linked with the mysterious Ricky Tan (John Lone).

In the film, when the crime lord attacks the duo at a massage parlor, they get dumped completely naked on the streets of Hong Kong. The scene where the duo runs to police headquarters by covering themselves with the newspaper was quite a moment in the film. However, it was not faked but an actual scene.

The film production was unable to block off the street for the filming of that particular scene which meant that the stars had to run through the actual busy streets of Hong Kong.

Given that the street was unavailable at the time, they ran the camera on a busy street and filmed the footage.

After giving great chemistry in Rush Hour 3 which was released in 2007, no information about the next sequel was being released. The duo has continued to express their interest in their potential reunion and the plans have officially been greenlighted by Chan last year.

Last December, Chan announced at the Red Sea International Film Festival that a fourth installment is officially in development. He mentioned at the time that he would be meeting with the film’s director, Brett Ratner that night regarding the script.

While making press rounds for Ben Affleck’s Air, he mentioned about his reunion with the Dragon Lord star.

“That’s what I like… I’m excited about that. It’s not going to be what you’ve normally seen… ‘Rush Hour 4,’ that’s something I definitely will probably drop in there because I love working with Jackie, but I’ve got some new stuff that I think you’re really gonna like. I’m excited about it.”

The Rush Hour franchise was a commercial success with Tucker’s hint is more than enough to say that the upcoming film would bring new adventure for the actors.

The Rush Hour films are available on HBO Max.
