True Lies directed by James Cameron, became one of Hollywood’s cult films thanks to its action packed comedy and the entertaining chemistry between the two protagonists Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. The Oscar winner elaborated on the reason in an interview and said that Schwarzenegger became close friends with her famous father Tony Curtis whom he directed in a film called Christmas in Connecticut. This family-like connection made it awkward for the Austrian star to think of Jamie Lee Curtis as anything but a family member.

“I just don’t think he thought of me as his leading lady. I think he thought of me as Tony’s little girl. And it was Jim [Cameron] who said, ‘No, I’ve written this for her. She’s the one to do this with you.'”

Ultimately, Schwarzenegger put his uneasiness aside and went on to have a great on screen rapport with the Haunted Mansion star. Curtis for her part, expressed her gratitude to her co-star for giving her first billing in credits, thereby acknowledging that she was an equal protagonist to him in the film.
