Michael Douglas is a veteran of the industry. From the MCU’s Ant-Man films to Sentinel, Wall Street, and more, the actor has starred in several projects. As a result, he is a well-known household name and certainly carries weight in Hollywood. Nowadays, the nepotism debate is heating up.
People are not happy that the star kids of actors are getting a foot in the door of the entertainment industry without even having to lift a finger. However, Douglas has assured everyone that his kids will have to struggle the old fashion way.
Will Michael Douglas Not Help His Kids In Hollywood?
Michael Douglas has three children- son Dylan Michael Douglas and daughter Carys Douglas with bombshell actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, as well as one son, Cameron Douglas, with ex-wife Diandra Luker. Apparently, two out of them- Dylan Douglas and Carys Douglas are interested in joining the acting industry.
However, the Marvel actor has told them that they shouldn’t rely on him to get them parts in productions. The patriarch Douglas said:
“They both want to act, and I’ve told them to be ready for rejection. I experienced lots of rejection in my career, and it’s never easy. You have to keep on going, and someone will say yes.”
The veteran actor also said that this advice applied to everyone who was trying to break into the film industry. However, it looks like his children especially, his son, Dylan Douglas, won’t have much trouble trying to break into the profession because of his startling similarity to his mother Catherine Zeta-Jones.
But what does Dylan think of his famous parents? The wannabe actor who had one voice acting credit as Russell in a 2011 episode of Phineas and Ferb said that they are great and supporting parents.
Catherine Zeta-Jones And Michael Douglas’ Son Complimented Them
Dylan Douglas attended the premiere of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania with Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. There he was asked what he had to say about his parents. He praised them wholeheartedly and said that they are great actors and great parents. He said:
“Well, I’m very, very proud. I mean, obviously, they’re great actors — both Academy Award-winning actors — but they’re great parents. And that’s a side that not everyone gets to see, but I get to see every day, in and out.”
Ant-Man 3 was a disappointment for Marvel. The film failed to cross even $500 million at the global box office, something that the previous Ant-Man films succeeded in. As a result, even though there were plans for Ant-Man 4, the poor performance of Ant-Man 3 has seemingly put a break on them.
To make matters worse, Disney CEO, Bob Iger, has stated that Marvel’s excessive output has resulted in waning public interest in the franchise. So it looks like the studio will be undergoing a restructuring to ensure that the brand is again celebrated across the globe. As a result, it now remains to be seen when Douglas appears in the MCU again. As for Dylan, it will be interesting to see where his Hollywood career takes him.
