Sex Education is a Netflix Original TV Series, and it is a highly entertaining drama series, that you would love to binge-watch as it is extremely relatable as well as its depiction of love and real-world relationships is true and people have often found themselves in similar situations.
However, the series would not be the same as Emma Mackey who earlier teased her potential exit from the TV series, has now confirmed that she would be walking away from the role of Maeve Wiley after the end of season 4.
Did Emma Mackey confirm her Exit?
After Emma Mackey won the BAFTA Rising Star Award, she gave a quick interview to Radio Times, confirming that it is time for her to walk away from the character, and bid farewell to the show, according to the actress the role of Maeve Wiley has run its course.
“Season 5? I’ve just finished the fourth one last week! No, I don’t think I’ll be in season 5. I’ve said goodbye to Maeve.”
The show would not be the same without Mackey playing the role of Maeve Wiley, and season 4 of Sex Education would be the last time we’ll be the actress playing her role in the popular Netflix series.
Why will Emma Mackey not Reprise her Role in Season 5?
Earlier, the Sex Education actress teased the fans of the show about her potential exit from the show because, she believes the show was imminent, and gracefully leave the role and not play a character playing a 17-year-old high school student who is “stuck in time” because every cast member is 30, and it is weird for her.
“It’s a blessing because it is a launchpad, and it is something that has given us opportunities in different ways but it’s something that I want to gracefully exit from, and be happy that it exists and protect it and enjoy it in the time that it has existed in but yeah, it needs to be left alone now I think.”
The fans would be disappointed to know that other cast members are making an exit from the show, one such instance is of Ncuti Gatwa, as he shared an Instagram post with the caption “Last day. Last time. Bye bubs, thank you for all the lessons and for all the strength.” Ncuti Gatwa’s exit was not a big surprise because he will be playing the lead role in Doctor Who, however, his exit will hurt the popularity of the show.
Season 4 of Sex Education doesn’t have a release date, but you can stream the first 3 seasons of show on Netflix.
