Although the $30M movie was one bad movie in the Oscar nominee’s career, it didn’t hold her back from getting into better movies and TV shows, with her television series Shameless being the best one to date. An outspoken and brilliant actress, Rossum is not only renowned for her works on the big screen.
In 2018, the then-31-year-old actress took to Instagram to call out actresses for flaunting how much they weigh and for sharing an empowering message with her fans, which increased the fans’ respect for the amazing star.

When it comes to celebrities shamelessly showing off their weight and promoting an unhealthy mindset about it, Emmy Rossum isn’t one to just sit back and watch. She is one to voice her opinions on such matters and call the celebs out on it. And that is exactly what she did with reality star, Kim Kardashian.
This dates back to 2018 when the superstar Kim Kardashian got into much controversy for flaunting her 20-pound weight loss. At that time, Rossum took to Instagram to ask her fans if they have ever searched for celebrities’ weights on Google and compared those with their own. Continuing, she posted on her story, saying,
“During my life, the scale has told me that I’ve gained and lost and gained and lost. Somewhere in the range of 20 pounds. But that piece of metal doesn’t really know.”
Not stopping there, the Shameless actress went ahead to reveal how much she ‘actually’ weighs, and then posted in her next story a picture of herself with several words and phrases that describe her written on top of it. This included the words ‘kindness’, ‘drive’, ’empathy’, ‘friends’, and ‘marriage’, among others, all in all meaning it was the things Rossum valued that described her and not her weight.

Furthermore, Emmy Rossum shared an empowering message in her next story, saying everyone is ‘so much more than just a number’. She wrote,
“See, when you add up everything you are?? The size of your thighs don’t really matter anymore, do they? So join me in this. Show people what you are actually made of. Because you are so much more than a f–king number.”
After this, she shared another story on Instagram, in which she can be seen saying,
“So I want to nominate everyone who saw this to do their own version of ‘I weigh,’ tell us what you’re made of. Because you’re so much more than what that dumb f–king piece of metal says. Alright? OK? Gotta go to work bye.”
