One of the most anticipated games in the past few years has been Grand Theft Auto VI. There has been a lot of thrill and excitement among fans regarding this title from Rockstar Games. However, aside from all the controversies revolving around leaks, a major topic has been ripping apart the gamers into two groups.
Fans will always find something out of the air to talk about. GTA 6 fans can’t stop speculating about this upcoming game, and many fan theories have surfaced. However, a recent perspective of the game has been driving gamers to the verge of insanity and making them question their moral values. The debate sparked around a simple question: If children are included in the game, then can players interact with them?
What sparked the massive discord between GTA 6 fans online?
This massive discord ignited with one Twitter user named, SWEGTA who said that if children were to be included in the game, then harming them should be fine.
“I’m fine with killable kids in GTA VI,” SWEGTA tweeted, and continued, “Wastling thousands of adults is fine, but you push one kid off a cliff and suddenly you’ve gone too far? Pfffh.”
There hasn’t been much context present about this specific tweet, so there can be a high probability that the tweet was just posted to troll other users.
However, this tweet led to the rise of a vast Reddit thread where other users expressed their opinions regarding this matter. For some, it was a mere ordeal of morality and feasibility. However, others argued that Rockstar Games should keep the feature to harm kids optional.
Can kids actually be harmed in GTA 6?
This entire discord between the players arose from the mere speculation on theories that the developers of GTA 6 included kids in the games. However, several Redditors started a thread on the tweet that SWEGTA posted.
“I’ll be honest, I see no problem. It’s the moral dilemma of the player. Do you or don’t you, but the ability should be there,” A Redditor expressed his perspective on the matter and added further insight, “For example, I’ll never kill a horse in Red Dead Redemption or a dog or anything like that in a video game. Why? Because it upsets me. But, the ability is there. It can happen, but not by me.”
TechieTravis said that damaging adults is fine compared to kids when another user chipped in and shared that inflicting harm upon children in games is banned across the world. There were always two sides of the coin. Along with players who supported SWEGTA’s tweet, there were individuals who voiced their strong opinions against this entire ordeal.
