Invincible is a unique comic book series that dwells deep into the comic book/superhero genre by exploring themes like what it actually is like being a Superhero, complex character developments through intense themes, realistic consequences of being a Superhero, family dynamics, and other similar yet gripping themes. Given its vast popularity and Season 2 set to premiere soon, fans can’t help but wonder how thrilling it would be to get a live-action remake.

When asked about a possible live-action film of the comics, Robert Kirkman replied,

“With the strikes and everything, it’s all stalled, and rightly so. Everybody’s doing a great thing trying to make sure that future generations get to be able to work and thrive and survive in this industry. Everything’s been put on pause, but it’s something that I know Universal is very invested in, and it’s something that we’ve been working on behind the scenes up to this point. Hopefully, I’ll be able to answer this question in a more answerable way at some point in the future.”

While it is true that in the wake of the ongoing writers and actors strike, a live-action film is hard to come about. But the possibility of one in the future seems exciting since the series itself provides a new context within the larger theme of the Superhero universe.

Season 2 of the popular superhero series would focus on themes of betrayal, identity conflict, and Mark Grayson’s trajectory as a budding superhero. In the words of the creator himself,

“I will say that season 1 was a season where Mark Grayson, Invincible, wanted to be his father. Season 2 is a season where he is worried that he might be.”

With amazing new characters and complex character development, the upcoming season offers promising details about the life of the young superhero as well as a dense yet compelling storyline. Talking about what is the most surprising thing in Season 2, Robert Kirkman remarked,

“If you’re a diehard Invincible fan that was there 20 years ago buying the first issue, there are some moments that you’re going to see come to life in a really amazing way very true to the comics. I love that you get this menu of various different ways that we’re adapting things. It’s going to end up making for a really cool show.”

Well, we can hardly wait. The season 2 of Invincible premieres on Amazon Prime Video, on November 3, 2023.
