In the vast empire of the anime world, Dragon Ball is the one anime that hails at the top of this universe. It has managed to create a fanbase that is not limited to anything. After Dragon Ball Z, the series of the Dragon Ball franchise, that has made a significant amount of noise is the Dragon Ball Super. Unraveling the adventures of Goku and Vegeta, the series shows epic battles, ultimate power-ups, brilliant storylines, and special characters. All the credit for this goes to manga artist Toyotarou, who is bringing life to the works of Akira Toriyama.
Toyotarou is a manga artist from Japan. He has illustrated various Dragon Ball-related manga, most notably Dragon Ball Super, which was penned by series creator Akira Toriyama. In manga form, Dragon Ball Super has plotlines and oversight provided by Toriyama himself, while the artwork is by Toyotarou, a manga designer who began drawing Dragon Ball because he was a fan. Dragon Ball Super’s Manga Artist’s Biggest Problem
Toyotarou’s journey as a Dragon Ball Super manga artist has been filled with excitement, surprises, and tension. He has managed to create some of the best panels of the series but there is one problem that he faces during bringing the art to life. In an interview with Anime News Network, Manga artist Toyotarou explained the one big problem that he faced during drawing the manga. He said:
“Well, you have favorite characters, and those are pillars that can’t change and everyone loves them. So it’s really hard to create new characters who rise to that level! What I receive from Toriyama is literally words on paper, without drawings or anything. So when I’m reading it, I have to fill in the blanks as far as the specifics are concerned. I think of what kinds of expressions the characters wear, and which way they look when they say a certain line.”
Toyotarou’s biggest issue is that Goku and Vegeta(the main characters) have reached a level of popularity and power, that creating any other character that could surpass or at least reach their level is very difficult thus bringing a lot of issues in developing the story further.

Toyotarou’s Own Interpretation of The Characters
During the interview, Toyotarou explained why he has to add his own touch to the characters and would love to ask Toriyama to sit next to him and help him with that. He said:
“Many times, Toriyama-sensei doesn’t give me specific feedback on the details that I fill in, so I put a lot of thought into those aspects, knowing that my interpretation is what the readers will see. I would love to have Toriyama just sit next to me so I could ask him questions all the time, but unfortunately, I can’t!”
Toyotarou explained that the structure that he usually gets from Toriyama is just words and his own interpretations and he has to fill in the specifics and he has to manage it all on its own.
