Hollywood stars Tom Hanks and Keanu Reeves are two beloved characters in their respective genre. And the two stars finally worked together in the fourth installment of Pixar’s animated film series Toy Story. Reeves joined Hanks and Tim Allen as Duke Caboom, a toy created in honor of a stuntman. Both of them also have a reputation for being humble, grounded, and kind toward others, leading many to discuss who among them is the nicest guy in Hollywood.
While the Cast Away star has shared that he and his Toy Story co-star were a little afraid of the John Wick star, it seems the two soon got comfortable around each other, as Hanks later quoted his fellow actor during a 2020 Golden Globes interview.
Tom Hanks Quoted Keanu Reeves at the 2020 Golden Globes
Starting his Hollywood career in the 1980s, Tom Hanks has been in the industry for more than four decades. And the actor was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2020 Golden Globes Awards to celebrate his “contributions to the world of entertainment.”
He was later asked how he has managed to keep his distance from scandals and remain so well-liked over the years. Hanks said that he doesn’t follow a strategy or agenda to have a clear image in the industry and further went on to quote Keanu Reeves, saying that “He has a wonderful answer to those questions.”
“He always says it’s preferable to the alternative, which is true,” Hanks stated while recalling his brief discussions with Reeves. He also said that he would prefer to be “appreciated” by people rather than being the subject of anyone’s hatred.
Hanks went on to state the benefits of being an actor. And he also got emotional as he received the 77th Cecil B. De Mille lifetime achievement award at the 2020 Golden Globes. The 67-year-old actor thanked his wife and shared the lessons he learned from the theatre director Daniel Sullivan.
Tom Hanks Was Cautious of Keanu Reeves
Tom Hanks and Tim Allen voiced the popular character Sheriff Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively, in the Toy Story franchise. And The Matrix star Keanu Reeves joined the duo in the 2019 film Toy Story 4 as Duke Caboom, a toy made in honor of the greatest stuntman of Canada.
However, Hanks, who recently saw Reeves in the neo-noir action thriller franchise, John Wick, shared he planned on being cautious around his new co-star. “I just saw John Wick 4 or 3, and I go, ‘Good Lord, I don’t want to get this guy upset.’ Keep him away from the knives!” he hilariously shared during an interview.
The Forrest Gump star also shared that although they featured in the movie, he only met his co-star around the release of the movie when they took a picture with the whole cast. He also shared that he loved Reeves’ character in the movie.
