Jovan Adepo On Getting A Chance To Work With Denzel Washington

Jovan Adepo made his first feature film debut along with Denzel Washington in the 2016 film, Fences. The Overlord star shared that he was excited just to audition for the role but to get the chance altogether to work alongside his admirable actor made his debut the very best. 

“You know that every young actor would want you to know to get to work with somebody that you admire and in your craft and you know an opportunity to get access to such rich material so I was really excited to get the opportunity just to audition but actually earning the part I mean that’s, that’s where it is, that’s the best.”

Jovan Adepo On Being Nerve Wrecked While Auditioning For Fences

The Jack Ryan star shared about his audition process where he had to gather all his must just to enter the room for the audition. Adepo added further that he stuttered while speaking in front of Washington and felt as if he was gonna lose the role. The Sorry for Your Loss star shared that even after being selected to proceed with the filming, he still felt nervous as he wished to satisfy the director of his first feature film. 

“When I first auditioned and I was outstanding outside of the office and I hears his voice I had to pump myself up to get ready to go in there and then you know he opens the door, he had his baseball cap on it’s like Giovanna Depo else Denzel, what’s up man? I stuttered…it’s hell and I was gonna lose it. But you know even when it came all the way to filming and after rehearsals I still had a little bit of nerves cuz this is my first feature film and I just wanted to keep my director happy with the work that I was doing so that helped inform the character.”
