“It’s about knowing when to leave the party”: Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones Co-Star Left Brad Pitt’s $487M Movie Reboot After Clashing With Spider-Man Actor

Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones Co-Star Left Brad Pitt's $487M Movie Reboot After Clashing With Spider-Man Actor

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s 2005 film, Mr. and Mrs. Smith is still etched into the viewers’ minds despite receiving mixed reviews from the critics. The film proved to be one hell of an entertaining action flick and even today, the film remains a fun watch. Not to mention that it apparently helped set Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s romantic endeavor in motion.

Since the film has an impressive fan following, everyone was super excited when Amazon announced a television reboot of the film. The TV series was all set to star Donald Glover in place of Brad Pitt and Phoebe Waller-Bridge in place of Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately, the actress walked out of the series. As it turns out, the creative differences between her and Donald Glover were just too much to handle.

Fans were, obviously, thrilled to see Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s John and Jane Smith reunite on the screen, albeit with a different look. While it would’ve been entertaining to watch Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge bring the iconic husband-wife duo to life, the pairing is no longer a reality.

In February 2021, Amazon announced the Mr. and Mrs. Smith reboot which would have starred and been created by the two lead actors. However, in September 2021, the actress took her leave from the TV series due to creative differences. And now, as Waller-Bridge is promoting her new film with Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, she opened up about her exit.

Talking to Vanity Fair, she stated,

“I worked on that show for six months fully in heart and mind and really cared about it — still care about it. And I know it’s going to be brilliant. But sometimes it’s about knowing when to leave the party. You don’t want to get in the way of a vision.”

Waller-Brudge added that creative collaborations are just like marriages and that “Some marriages don’t work out.”

Well, despite having her differences with the Spider-Man: Homecoming actor, Waller-Bridge wants nothing but the best for the upcoming series. Now, the role of Mrs. Smith will be played by Maya Erskine who has worked on projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Scoob!, PEN15, and many more.

No Bad Blood Between the Two Actors

Interviewing himself for Interview Magazine, Glover spoke a little about Waller-Bridge and if he was still friends with the actress after her exit. Answering his own question about what happened to the Fleabag actress, Glover stated,

“Classic creative differences…What does it mean to be a friend? I still like her. I assume she still likes me.”

Well, judging by Waller-Bridge’s above-mentioned comments, she, too, has no bad blood for her ex-co-star. We can now simply hope that the two powerhouses come together for another project soon enough and find a creative middle ground.

As for working with Erskine, Glover stated that “it’s exciting” and that “she’s dope.” We can’t wait to see how they bring the iconic story back to life!

The Mr. and Mrs. Smith reboot will be released sometime this year.
