When Harvey Weinstein was answering the jury for his crime against women, his former partner Georgina Chapman was suffering as well. Right after the news broke out it was the filmmaker trending on social media for all the wrong reasons. Netizens commented no actress will choose to wear her design anymore. The 47-year-old British designer decided to cancel the runway show for her brand for fall 2018 collection. While talking about why she made this decision the designer said,
“ We didn’t feel it was appropriate given the situation. All the women who have been hurt deserve dignity and respect, so I want to give it the time it deserves. It’s a time for mourning, really. A lot of people reached out and said, ‘Let me wear something.”
Many people thought Weinstein’s case might affect Chapman’s Marchesa as well but Scarlett Johansson was the actress after the controversy who donned a Marchesa outfit. The Lucy actress wore Chapman’s gown to the May’s Met Ball.

For Chapman as a woman, it was heartbreaking as she found her former partner guilty of s**ually harassing women in the industry. The actress refused to be in public for 5 months after the news broke out. It was a hard time for Weinstein’s family and friends. While talking about the controversy the designer said,
“I was so humiliated and so broken . . . that . . . I, I, I . . . didn’t think it was respectful to go out. I thought, Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on? It’s still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs.”

The filmmaker tied the knot with the British designer in the year 2007 and in the year 2021, they parted ways. Her label Marchesa is one of the most famous brands in the world of fashion and the designer is renowned for always bringing the best on the fashion runways.
